About

The web has changed a lot since 1994, when the the Edward Lear Home Page first appeared, and the pages badly needed an updated interface and an easier way for me to maintain them. While the old version with the four canonical books in text format will remain online, now most of Edward Lear’s texts are available in facsimile editions at archive.org or Google Books, so here I will for the most part provide links to items archived elsewhere and focus on maintaining the bibliographies up to date.

The new version also incorporates the Blog of Bosh, which started in October 2000. I have imported all posts even if, again, the old urls will still be available for a long time. Some links here may not work properly. I’ll try to post more regularly, though the Edward Lear’s Diaries project is taking most of my time.

The header image is from an exrardinary broaside of “The Owl and the Pussy-Cat” that Norman McKnight sent me several years ago. A few copies may be left, and he says he will be working on a new Edward Lear project soon, so visit his Philoxenia Press site.

I hope you enjoy the new site, for suggestions, contributions, and anything else, please contact me at marco dot graziosi at gmail.com.

  2. I’m really enjoying your site. I wasn’t aware Edward Lear’s 200th was this weekend. His work has always meant a lot to me; one of my favorites being Owl and the Pussycat. If I lived in UK, I’d have my homage to it hanging with the group at The Poet’s Society. I posted the video I made of it (I love iMovie) on your Facebook Page. Thanks for putting all this together; I’ve enjoyed reading through it.

Hello Marco, I hope you are well!

I wanted to draw your attention to the Highlights video of our opera Ode To Nonsense – We’d be very happy for you to share this with readers of your blog if you wished.
